Wellbeing Spotlight

From Sandy Goodenough

I speak from the heart and personal experience when I say the key person responsible for taking steps towards improving your overall wellbeing is YOU. If you can take the first steps in engaging with positive and supportive others, then you will begin to improve your wellbeing; and YOU are worthy!

Here at the church, we have a truly amazing network of social groups, courses, a community grocery, and a community coffee shop. There’s so much going on that it’s difficult to capture it all.

Common Ground coffee shop is warm, comfortable, accessible and affordable; it’s the welcome hub of this much bigger picture. You don’t need to be isolated; we’ll welcome you here! Adjacent to that is the Community Grocery so you can do a little shop whilst you’re here.

You can see what social groups are on here. Groups such as Needlecraft, Garden Club, Drawing Club, Community Choir, Computer Skills, Little Gems and Rhyme Time. Throughout the year we also run regular helpful courses, aimed at raising awareness, giving a space to talk, and to improve support networks within the whole community. These include: The Sanctuary Mental Health Awareness course, The Bereavement Journey, and Alpha. If you’d like to know more about these, please ask.

Some groups you can just turn up for, others you need to book; please ask the coffee shop volunteers or telephone 01642280440.

Alongside the above (and so much more), we gather for worship 10:30 am every Sunday at the United Reformed Church on Station Road; it is truly uplifting and we welcome you all. Being part of a worshipping community is very supportive and inclusive, and proven to benefit mental wellbeing, lifting mind, mood and spirit. We’d love you to join us!
