Community Grocery: Thousands of households have accessed affordable food, helping to ease the burden of rising living costs.
Common Ground Coffee Shop: A welcoming space where friendships flourish and loneliness fades, with over 10,000 visits annually.

Our church has faithfully served the people of Redcar through times of prosperity and challenge. From its early days as a small congregation, the church has grown into a vibrant community of faith, offering spiritual guidance and practical support to generations of local families.

Recent Transformations

Over the last four or five years, we’ve witnessed an extraordinary season of growth and renewal:

The Common Ground Coffee Shop: Opened to create a welcoming space for connection and community.
Community Grocery: Established to provide dignity and affordability for families struggling with rising costs.
The Eden Project: Partnered with The Message to launch transformative community outreach projects.
Expanded Ministries: From toddler groups and youth clubs to English classes for refugees and asylum seekers, we’ve tailored our activities to meet the real and pressing needs of our community.

Challenges We’ve Faced

Redcar, like many areas, has faced significant challenges in recent years, including economic hardship, unemployment, and social isolation. As a church, we’ve seen these struggles firsthand. Despite our own limitations—whether in funding, resources, or space—we’ve responded with faith, creativity, and a deep sense of calling.

Our ability to serve has been shaped by both the support we’ve received and the challenges we’ve overcome. And through it all, we’ve remained steadfast in our mission to be a light in Redcar.

Opportunities and Challenges Ahead

Our church and community projects are thriving, and with that growth comes both opportunity and challenge:

Growing Congregation: More people are finding a spiritual home with us, and our Sunday services are becoming fuller each week.
Expanding Community Needs: The demand for services like our Community Grocery, Coffee Shop, and youth programs is growing, with more families and individuals reaching out for support.
Space Limitations: Despite our success, we are rapidly outgrowing our physical space, limiting our ability to serve and welcome even more people into our community.

We are not slowing down. In fact, we are preparing for the future with a bold vision to extend our reach and impact:

Supporting Other Local Churches: We’re being asked to share our expertise and model with other churches in the area, offering guidance on how to run effective community projects and outreach programs.
Expanding Projects: Our current community initiatives will grow, allowing us to serve more people, meet more needs, and make a deeper impact.
Building for Growth: With the increasing demand for our programs and services, we are planning for the necessary expansion of our facilities—creating more space for worship, community support, and outreach.
